For those of you who know actor jargon, we are constantly told over and over again that "You are enough." Regardless of how you feel about yourself lol, being told that time and time again loses meaning-but also, what the heck does it even mean anyway?! Ever since I've started its been a phrase I've heard more than anything. Years and years of it. But last night in a voiceover class, it all clicked. And I finally figured out what it means when people say "You are enough" and it consequently also made every single acting metaphor and piece of knowledge that has been passed down make sense as well. Almost as if realizing that you ARE enough changes everything. Your perspective on your life in total, like you're not some ghost that is floating from one audition to another. You're a living breathing human and that's all you need to be.
I've heard this shit at least a zillion times. But I think it's something that maybe I was READY to hear and understand what it means, finally. Or maybe I was just paying attention for once. :)
Anyway, this all is just saying that I hope you find your moment like that. I hope you find your "Holy wow I AM enough. It's that simple." moment.
Because it really does change everything.
Thanks Paul Liberti for an awesome class (and for making a decade of acting classes drop in like a ton of bricks).
