What a fucking year.
2017 has been my first year as a college graduate and my move to my new home--NYC. New jobs, new apartments, new friends, health changes, and EVERYWHERE IS COLD. I AM A WALKING ICICLE.
2017 kicked my ass in more ways than one, but it's shaped me up for sure. But it's brought so much light and happiness into my life. I have marched alongside peers, seen amazing movies, auditioned a whole bunch, got rejected a whole bunch, did a whole bunch of projects, and have played an old lady in way too many improv scenes. Goodbye parties, welcome back parties, wedding parties.
I MET MY NEPHEW THIS YEAR! My best friend in the entire world! I have a new sister in the family and I was able to be a bridesmaid in their absolutely beautiful ceremony. I started working at The PIT and taking classes there and at UCB, both of which have caused laughing fits that hurt my body.
I am thankful for this year because of how much I've grown as an artist. I've auditioned for Broadway, feature films, and have added a lot to my resume and reel. I came here for a reason, right?! After taking a short break from auditioning to get financially stable, I'm excited to get back to it. I have auditions lined up in January and I'm excited to start meeting casting directors and agents. Also, I have seen BEAUTIFUL works of art here!!!! The shows are absolutely stunning and I am so excited to see more and be in more! The people I have met in New York are so talented and gorgeous, I can't wait to keep collaborating and watching!
2017 has also been a year of heartbreak. The October 1 shooting in Vegas, hurricanes and natural disasters, and shithead leadership. But it has been a beautiful reminder that through all the hardships, I know how strong were are. It was absolutely breathtaking to see the community of Las Vegas band together like that through the tragedy.
In all honesty I'm fuckin' STOKED for 2018. I have a lot of plans and goals and I'm excited for all of it. There are a lot of hurdles coming my way, but it'll all be okay.
CHEERS! Have a happy New Year. Be true to who you are, follow your heart, and always say yes to the things that will shake you to your core. I hope you spend your year petting many dogs, getting more stamps in your passport, and hugging people that you love. Drink whiskey, cry lots, and laugh even harder.
2018. I fuckwiddit.
